Hoping to get some dirt miles in on my new bike next weekend at Lenny's SYDC pre-ride. Thanks to SRAM and Maxxis for a few of the parts on this build. Steve
Bike rides have been hard to come by here in Durango. We've had a pretty solid winter overall, so BC skiing will have to do. Not a bad subsitute! This pic is from La Plata Canyon, near the top of a 9 mile skin slog. Definitely one of my favorite playgrounds, summer and winter.

So I asked Lenny if Spin for a year while deployed to Kuwait was
BWR blog worthy, and he said, "It would make an interesting blog post!!" and Claudia said, "Indeed must be accompanied by photos!" So I said what the heck. Now granted I don’t have any photos this go round but I will after next week. For the BWR guys that don’t know me, my name is Theran. I was invited to join BWR a few years ago while I was stationed in Germany by Michael and Marty. Now being in the Army for the last 17yrs has been great, but it greatly affects your personal life. So I have been limited in competing with BWR. I have done SiS a few times (which is more of a party than anything) and a Finale 24. But 3 more years to go and I am free. So now back to Kuwait. So I found the Spin class immediately after arriving at the beginning of the month. It is Sunday through Thursday, but I skip on Wed to do the weekly 5k. So as of today I have attended 9 classes and logged 162 miles. They have a Cardio club and a 100k/200k club. Every 250 miles we get a shirt and every 100k we get a shirt. I’m almost to the first goal. So eventually this will lead to my real goal, which is to climb to the top of Pike's Peak on my Road Bike. Forgive me if the blog isn’t written well or boring, it’s my first one. I will try to spice up the next one with some pics and a better story to go with it. Thanks BWR, Theran Lenny Goodell and Tim Wilcox raced in the 3Oth Mt Taylor Quadrathlon on Feb 16th. The Quad consists of a 13 mile road bike race, 5 mile run, 2 mile ski, 1 mile snowshoe up to the top of Mt Taylor at 11,300 ft and then turn around and do it in reverse back down to grants for a total of 43 miles and 5600 ft of climbing. This was Tim first time for the Quad and he kicked it with a time of 4:58:10 taking 14th place of 39 in the 30-39 age group. This was Lenny's first Quad, first multi-sport race and his first running race and he was on his single speed road bike. Lenny's left knee starting hurting soon after starting the uphill run causing him to walk most of it and all the down hill run (10 miles total!!). His goal was sub 6hr, but that was with the expectation of running all the uphill and most of the down hill. Lenny ended up with a time of 6:21:38 for 26th out of 43 in the 40-49 age group.
