12hrs of Mesa Verde on May 9th was cut very short due to mother nature's spring snow storm. The organizers wisely stopped the race after about 1.5hrs, which allowed for 1 lap for most folks. Some faster riders/teams got out on their second lap before the the race was stopped. The 1st half of the start lap wasn't bad, but then the storm moved in heavy and the mud started getting deeper, but still not so bad for those that got done in 1.5 hrs. Those that went out on a second lap had it much, much worse. Just compare Lenny's mud from lap 1 to Jerome's lap 2 mud below... :-)
The organizers thought they could restart the race at noon, but the conditions didn't improve enough so they had to call it and start the after party and awards early. Kudos to them for making the right decision. We didn't want to destroy the trail and our bikes.
It wasn't a total bust for BWR as Lenny and Billy finished first and second in the solo 50+ category. :-) Jerome and team finished 7th in 4 person.
